Grief Support for Children, Teens, Young Adults and their Families

“When I look at our kids, even as they talk or do grief work, I can see their hearts crying in their eyes. I just want to put a Band-Aid on their hearts and tell them everything will be okay. And by volunteering, I feel like I get to do that through my actions and words.”

Become a Jessica’s House Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Jessica’s House. No one is more cherished than someone who takes the time to lighten the burden of another human being. Thanks to their gift of time, and their many talents, we can provide hope and healing to families in grief.

Volunteers play a vital role in the following:

  • Facilitating grief support groups

  • Facilitating school support groups

  • Helping with event-related tasks

  • Warmly greeting families and helping with family dinners

  • Office and administrative assistance

The volunteer process starts with completing our application below. All volunteers must pass background checks and drug screenings before completing our weekend training.

Training provides the tools needed for volunteers to facilitate grief expression for children and families in peer support groups. During training, Jessica’s House staff work to learn more about mutual compatibility according to the needs of the program.

(Please note the online application form takes about 30 minutes to complete).

Intern at Jessica’s House

University partnerships create meaningful opportunities for students in child development, sociology, social work, psychology, and related fields to gain hands-on experience while providing valuable support to grieving families. These collaborations allow interns to work alongside Jessica’s House staff and volunteers to learn specialized practices for supporting children and families through loss. Real-world learning opportunities through our internship program at Jessica’s House help us serve more families in our community with the compassionate care they need.
